Nutrition


⦁    Infants and children under 18 months are fed    

     according to written parental instructions.  All food,

     bottles, bottle liners, and drink are provided by the

     parent until the child is 18 months of age .  If a child

     requires a special diet after 18 months it is the parents'

     responsibility to provide it.
⦁    All food must be stored, prepared and served to

     maintain maximum nutrient value.
⦁    The children are served a variety of nutritious meals

     and snacks.  Sugary snacks are limited.
⦁    Children are encouraged to try everything that is served

     at each meal. 
⦁    Parents must notify staff of food allergies.
⦁    Menus are prepared according to Canada's Food Guide.

Whole grain foods 

Whole grain foods have important nutrients such as:

  • fiber

  • vitamins

  • minerals

Whole grain foods are a healthier choice than refined grains because whole grain foods include all parts of the grain. Refined grains have some parts of the grain removed during processing.

Protein foods 

Children can eat a variety of protein foods as part of a healthy eating pattern.

Protein foods have important nutrients such as:

  • protein

  • vitamins

  • minerals
